Position Summary
The Library Coordinator leads specific library operations and coordinates the relevant work of library staff across locations. Examples include the Library Collections Coordinator to oversee and perform materials selection for the Rio Rancho Public Library system and the Library Outreach Coordinator to oversee outreach initiatives within the Rio Rancho Community. The Coordinator works closely with the Community Engagement, Branch Services, and Technical Services Teams to identify needs, assess performance metrics, and to coordinate library staff participation at all locations.
The Library Coordinator will regularly supervise staff and oversee library facilities in the absence of senior staff, serve on standing and ad hoc committees, and participates in library evening and/or weekend rotations.

Education / higher education: Bachelor's Degree
For required college degrees, applicable field(s) of study: Any.
Minimum number of years of directly related experience: Three years related experience in event planning, library services, retail purchasing, bookstores, and/or the publishing industry.
Education and/or experience preferences: Budgeting, Community Needs Assessment, Event Planning, Public Relations, and/or Marketing.
Driver's License requirement: Frequent Driver -- Regular Driver's License Required Endorsements: None

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge: Planning events and programs, and in establishing and building partnerships between communities and/or organizations, Library collections principles or publishing industry practices.
Skills: Must be able to type rapidly and accurately enough to successfully produce documents/spreadsheets, communicate via e-mail, or perform data entry as necessary to accomplish the essential functions of the position. Use of technology, equipment and software typically used in the office environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
Abilities: Ability to build and maintain interpersonal relationships across organizations. Operate a personal computer to access Internet and on-line database resources and use word processing and spreadsheet applications. Write technical reports, library planning documents, business correspondence, and procedures manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from colleagues. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical work situations. Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Interaction with Groups/Agencies/Entities: Internal: Coordinates with library staff and supervisors to allocate resources and staff time to relevant operations. Maintains harmonious, courteous, and understanding relationships, while fostering a collaborative teamwork environment. External: Build and maintain partnerships with city departments, vendors, community organizations and individual community stakeholders. Promotes library services to the general public. Presents a courteous and friendly image for the City with the general public.
