Job Description
This position requires the operation of large buses, mid-buses or vans to transport passengers in a safe, prompt and courteous manner. This position normally works 19 hours per week, Monday through Saturday, day and night shifts. Schedule will be determined by the public's demand for transportation service and will change accordingly. This position contingent upon continued grant funding.
This position has been classified as a safety sensitive position and is subject to our drug testing policy to include pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident for the following prohibited substances: marijuana, amphetamines, opioids, phencyclidine (PCP), and cocaine, as well as any drug not approved for medical use by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration or the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Typical Duties
- Attend in-service safety briefings and training sessions.
- Attend all in-state training sessions to become certified in Passenger Assistance and Safety, Wheelchair Securement, Evacuation Procedures, Blood borne Pathogens, Dealing with Difficult Passengers, etc.
- Operate vans/buses over a designated route or in response to dispatched calls.
- Must have knowledge of city grid to enable efficient routing.
- Must be able to assess each passenger's situation and determine the level of assistance needed and safely provide assistance with boarding and alighting.
- Receive and log fares as established by policy.
- Maintain driver's log and records as required.
- Complete and log thorough pre and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting all deficiencies.
- Provide light preventative vehicle maintenance.
- Maintain good customer relations.
- Learn 10 codes and proper mobile radio techniques.
- Maintain the appearance of the vehicle inside and outside.
- Assist with building custodial duties as needed.
- Maintain professional personal appearance by caring for and wearing uniforms properly.
- During down time, assist office staff with data entry.
- Maintain exceptional customer service at all times.
- Provide all transportation services in a safe and secure manner.
- Dignity and respect to be presented to others.
Requirements - Requires a high school diploma and preferably six (6) months work experience which demonstrates an ability to operate large buses, perform pre-trip and preventative maintenance vehicle checks, and maintain good public relations skills.
- Must have a valid NM Driver's License, good driving record and be able to obtain within three (3) months, a New Mexico Commercial Drivers License with passenger endorsement;
- Defensive Driving Certification and CPR/First Aid Certification. Good computer skills preferable.
